MCP Quickstart
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP clients to Alpha Analyst — OAuth in the app or an API key for scripts.
Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets an AI call Alpha Analyst tools for you: resolve a company, search filings, pull financials, run a screen, and read markdown exhibits — without you pasting responses into the chat. After you connect, the client lists MCP tools on your plan. Names and arguments are on MCP tools.
Use this guide for Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, Copilot, or another MCP host. Use the API quickstart for REST (/apicontents).
Website plans
Select website subscriptions include MCP. See pricing for which plans include it today.
Connect in minutes
Add the server URL in your client (HTTP or Streamable HTTP transport):
https://alpha-analyst.com/apicontents/mcp/v2/Authenticate. Interactive clients (Claude Desktop, Cursor, ChatGPT) complete OAuth in the browser on first connect. Scripts and headless clients use the same API key as REST:
Authorization: ApiKey YOUR_API_KEYDo not paste a website login cookie or session token. See API authentication.
Ask a question. Try “Resolve Apple” or “Search 10-K risk factors for Microsoft.” The client picks tools; you can browse names and schemas under MCP tools.
Server
https://alpha-analyst.com/apicontents/mcp/v2/Choose HTTP or Streamable HTTP if the client asks for a transport. Sessions are stateless.
Rate limits
MCP has its own per-minute and per-day caps on your plan (separate from REST). Over limit, tool calls return rate_limited; honor Retry-After when the client exposes it.
Claude Desktop
Add the following to claude_desktop_config.json, then restart Claude Desktop. Claude will open a browser to approve access.
{
"mcpServers": {
"alpha-analyst": {
"type": "streamable-http",
"url": "https://alpha-analyst.com/apicontents/mcp/v2/"
}
}
}Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http alpha-analyst https://alpha-analyst.com/apicontents/mcp/v2/ \
--scope userChatGPT
In ChatGPT, open Settings → Connectors (or Apps) and add a custom MCP server:
- Server URL:
https://alpha-analyst.com/apicontents/mcp/v2/ - Transport: HTTP / Streamable HTTP
- Authentication: OAuth (do not paste a website login token)
Microsoft 365 Copilot
In Microsoft 365 Copilot or Teams, add a custom MCP server or agent and use:
- Server URL:
https://alpha-analyst.com/apicontents/mcp/v2/ - Authentication: OAuth if offered, otherwise
Authorization: ApiKey YOUR_API_KEY
Your Microsoft 365 admin controls which custom agents are allowed. If the server does not appear, ask them to permit it under Teams apps → Manage apps.
Perplexity
In Perplexity, go to Settings → Connectors → Add connector, choose Advanced, and enter:
https://alpha-analyst.com/apicontents/mcp/v2/Add the Authorization: ApiKey YOUR_API_KEY header if the connector form includes custom headers.
Codex
codex mcp add --transport http alpha-analyst https://alpha-analyst.com/apicontents/mcp/v2/Headless Codex should send Authorization: ApiKey YOUR_API_KEY. In-app Codex uses the orchestrator and does not need a customer key.
Cursor
In Cursor MCP settings or mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"alpha-analyst": {
"url": "https://alpha-analyst.com/apicontents/mcp/v2/"
}
}
}Choose HTTP / Streamable HTTP if you are asked for a transport. Cursor will complete OAuth in the browser.
Other MCP clients

| Transport | Streamable HTTP (also listed as HTTP or Streaming HTTP) |
